Extra Stairs Balustrade

The householder needed an additional balustrade for the bottom few steps of their stairs and wanted it to be in keeping with the existing staircase.

The balustrade was made from hemlock stair parts from Wickes, carefully chosen for their grain.

The top was carefully cut in to match the flowing curves of the existing newel. The fixings at the base were capped in matching wood and, of course, the handrail was rounded and sanded.

The next step will be to stain and varnish to match the surrounding wood.
